Mark
Pearson (HOST) - Farmer,
small businessman, stockbroker and raconteur, long-time
Market To Market host Mark Pearson has earned a national
reputation for his agribusiness and rural issues acumen.
A former Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for the State
of Iowa, Mark's long career in the media culminated with
his being named host of Market To Market in 1991. Since
then, Mark has kept viewers informed as host of more than
600 editions of the "Weekly Journal of Rural America."
A retired officer in the Naval Reserve, Mark and his
family live on a farm in central Iowa, where he raises
grain and
livestock.
Doug
Hjort - There's
virtually no aspect of agribusiness that's unfamiliar
to Doug Hjort. Doug farmed and ranched in Montana
for many years before becoming a marketing and
production manager for two private grain elevators.
From there, he built a reputable career as a
marketing analyst and consultant, including serving
14 years as manager of the marketing consulting
division of Farmers Grain and Livestock Corp.
Now
the owner and president of Iowa-based Hjort
Associates, Inc., Doug's expert advice can be heard regularly
on Market To Market, as well as in daily radio
commentary.
Virgil
Robinson - An outstanding fundamental and technical analyst, Virgil Robinson has worked as a grain merchandiser, commodity broker, consultant, and independent trader for more than 35 years. Currently with PHI Marketing Services, Inc., Robinson sits on the Pioneer Hedge Committee. In that role, he provides market analysis and strategies for Pioneer Hi-Bred International's Web site.
Appearing regularly on Market to Market for more than 25 years, Robinson's analysis of commodity market activity is highly regarded on the national speaking circuit.
John
Roach - Appearing regularly for nearly 30 years, John Roach is Market To Market's senior analyst. Roach grew up on a small grain and livestock farm in south central Iowa. He started in the futures business in 1973 and five years later founded Roach Ag Marketing, an independent full-service commodity brokerage with more than 2,500 domestic and foreign clients. Roach authors a daily grain marketing plan that he sends to his farm clients by email each morning.
Cited in the 1995 book Master Brokers, Roach is based in Boca Raton, Florida. His business has 20 experienced brokers at 11 office locations in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Nebraska.
Tomm
Pfitzenmaier - Viewers of Market To Market have profited by Tomm Pfitzenmaier's
erudite
market analysis for the past 17 years. Raised on a grain
and livestock farm in eastern Iowa, Pfitzenmaier became
a partner in 1983 with Summit Commodity Brokerage, where
he worked with former Market To Market host Chet Randolph.
Before helping found the brokerage, Pfitzenmaier worked
with Iowa Farm Management.
Currently
living on a farm in central Iowa, Pfitzenmaier holds
a degree in Farm Management
from Iowa State University.
Sue
Martin - The president and owner of Ag & Investment
Services, Inc., Sue Martin is an original. With 30 years
of experience in the brokerage business, she was among
the first women in her field. Active on the speaking circuit,
Ms. Martin has addressed national audiences on marketing
strategies and futures trends. She also has served on the
board of the National Introducing Brokers Association.
In
addition to her popular recurring appearances on Market
To Market, Ms. Martin delivers daily commentary and analysis
to a variety of radio networks and on
the Internet.
Doug
Jackson - For
28 years, Doug Jackson's knowledge of the grain
markets has been unchallenged.
For 24 of those years, he has served as vice president
of the International Division of FCStone, Inc., one of
the leading grain hedging and consulting firms on the
planet. Jackson has spoken often to national and international
audiences about risk management programs for elevators,
producers, and traders.
A fixture
on Market To Market for more than 20 years, Jackson grew
up on a family
farm and later earned a masters degree in business administration from Drake
University.
Walt
Hackney - It's often said that Walt Hackney knows the
exact whereabouts of every hog and steer in the USA, if
not the world. In his long career, Hackney's done it all – head
cattle buyer, general manager of a beef packing plant,
vice president of feeder cattle operations for major feedlots,
director of state livestock marketing programs, and developer
of nationally recognized risk management programs.
A Market To Market regular for many years, Walt is the founder of Hackney Ag,
an Omaha-based company that provides marketing and risk management services to
livestock producers.
Alan
R. Brugler - President
of Omaha-based Brugler Marketing & Management,
LLC, Alan R. Brugler has been providing skilled market
commentary for more than a quarter-century. In addition
to his role as principal market adviser for his own
firm, he has worked in market analysis for the Data
Transmission Network, as well as the Ohio Farm Bureau
Federation. A frequent speaker to rural audiences,
Brugler holds a master's degree in Agricultural Education
from The Ohio State University.
Though he now lives
in Omaha with his own family, Alan's extended family still operates a grain
and dairy farm in Trumbull, County, Ohio.
Erin Golly - As the Vice President of PCI Advisory Services for the past eight years, Erin works closely with producers and grain elevators on a daily basis. PCI Advisory Services also has branch offices in Iowa and Minnesota . Erin comes from an agricultural family business, Lynch Livestock, which has been in the livestock industry for more than 85 years. She manages the marketing department for the company. Erin has been nominated to the Iowa Pork Producer Promotion Committee for the past two years and writes a pork marketing newsletter for clients across the country.
Erin and her family currently live in Charles City, with their commodity and livestock business based in Waucoma, Iowa .
Darin Newsom - With more than 15 years experience analyzing grain markets, Darin Newsom provides DTN customers with insight and analysis on an hourly, daily and weekly basis. As the Senior Grains Analyst at DTN, he offers commentary on cash and futures grain markets -- and the national and international events which move them. Prior to joining DTN, Newsom was a producer risk-management consultant for FCStone, Inc.
Beginning his career at the local cooperative in his hometown of Lewis, Kansas, Newsom has taught college-level courses on agricultural marketing. His news analyses and commentaries have appeared in newspapers, on radio and television and the Internet.
